We did it!

The Mandela Day in Beaulieu event went off very well today. 80 human residents and about 20 horses and dogs came out to support this initiative and to do something good for charity.

At 12 noon on the dot we sang "Happy Birthday" (rather tunefully it must be said). In the unlikely event that any residents of Kiribati were up at midnight on a Sunday and felt a compulsion to sing birthday wishes to Madiba we can safely assume that we were the first people on the planet to do so!

We raised nearly R6000 for CHOC and have 20 KEEMO's left. We hope to sell these this week and will be able to hand even more money over to this very worthy charity that does so much great work with children suffering from cancer.

Thanks again to everyone who attended and supported this event.

All are welcome!

We have received a few calls and emails asking if dogs are welcome. The answer is a big, warm YES! Well behaved, four-legged friends on a leash are definitely welcome.

Please also spread the word to friends and family that are not in BCE as this event is open to all. If you want to post on Facebook or Twitter we would be delighted. Maybe simply post this url which redirects to this blog

See you all on Sunday - make sure that you are there BEFORE 12 noon - that is THE MOMENT and you don't want to miss it.

Every participant will receive a beaufiful KEEMO soft toy. KEEMO is the new mascot that was developed to act as a companion and positive role model for youngsters who have to endure the hardship of
chemotherapy.

Bring a glass or can of whatever you wish to drink for a toast to the longevity of our most valuable national treasure after your 67 minutes of exertion!

Please drop us a line if you plan to make it to this gathering so that we can plan accordingly. If we can get enough people committed we can get the TV cameras and press along. So as well as making you famous we can get much needed publicity for CHOC.
